One of the fastest growing ministries in the modern church is the ministry to the 55+ adults. Because of technological advances, people are enjoying longer, healthier lives. Parkview Baptist Church ministers in a variety of ways to this generation of active adults.
Bible studies are the focal point of our adults in the 55+ ministry. Our Sunday morning Bible study meets weekly at 9:45 a.m. in small groups that do more than just talk the word, — they enjoy living it! These Bible studies form care groups that fellowship, pray, and minister to one another. These care groups are like family; they truly take care of one another. OnTuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m., our 55+ adults gather in a larger group setting and learn how to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. These are great opportunities to invite friends and neighbors, thereby providing an outreach tool to convey Christ to others.
For those who like to travel and enjoy a change of scenery, the 55+ adults take short, monthly day trips that explore Louisiana as well as surrounding state’s tourist attractions. In addition to these excursions, an annual one-week trip to various parts of the United States is popular and provides a safe, inexpensive vacation opportunity.
The most popular of the 55+ adult activities is the monthly 55+ luncheons. On the first Saturday of every month, the 55+ adults “meet-to-eat” and enjoy an entertaining program. Held in the Fellowship Hall, this is excellent opportunity for fellowship, fun, and food!
Other activities of the 55+ ministry are: retirement home ministry; Lord’s Supper ministry to shut-ins; as well as outreach to younger and older people who are approaching retirement or who are retired.
